Installing a scanner is a very easy task. The common problems that people run into would be; not unlocking the scanner before use and damaged scanners either by shipment or dropping it before installation.
To install a scanner follow the steps below:
- Parallel Port Scanner
- Shutdown system.
- Hook parallel connector to printer port of your computer. If you have a SCSI scanner, or USB simply hook into one of those ports.
- Unlock scanner head. This is usually done underneath scanner of on sides by power switch.
- Plug in power for scanner boot system up Windows will recognize new device and hardware manager will appear.
- SCSI Scanner
- If you have a SCSI scanner you may already be familiar with ID settings, terminator plugs, and anything else that goes along with the chain. First I want to cover installing the SCSI Adapter Card.
- Make sure and refer to your adapters documentation for jumper settings. You will want to set the jumpers if any before we install the adapter.
- Turn Off PC and unplug from outlet
- Remove case cover
- Unscrew a slot on case for adapter card
- connect any necessary internal cables. (drives)
- Align card with Bus slot and seat evenly. Be careful of any catching the cards ports on anything.
- Tighten down card snug
- Close case
- Hook up power
- USB Scanner
- This one is very simple. You will simply plug in with computer running and install a driver for it.
- Exit all programs running.
- With only windows running plug in your scanner into the USB port
- Give windows a few seconds
- you should be brought to a hardware wizard
- Now you are ready to load a driver for it
