The VIA P4M900 chipset with its Integrated Graphics Processor (IGP) and PCI Express connectivity enables leading OEMs and SIs to create a flexible range of Microsoft Windows Vista -ready solutions for the Intel processor platform including support for the latest Intel Core2 Duo processors.


Featuring the VIA Chrome9 HC IGP (Integrated Graphics Processor) core, the VIA P4M900 delivers DirectX 9 graphics support with hardware pixel shaders to meet the requirements of the upcoming Windows Vista operating system, and rising high definition video requirements. With additional support for the latest PCI Express add-in graphics cards, the VIA P4M900 provides SIs and OEMs an unparalleled level of performance and flexibility to develop a wide range of next-generation systems in multiple market segments capable of taking advantage of the extended visual desktop experience Microsoft Windows Vista has to offer.


The core of the VIA P4M900 North Bridge lies the VIA Chrome9 HC IGP, delivering a rich visual experience through the implementation of innovative features such a 128 bit 2D/3D engine with dual pixel pipeline. The P4M900 also features extensive display support for all HDTV output formats including 1920x1080p when coupled with an HDTV encoder, and additional advanced graphics capabilities include the Chromotion Video Display Engine, comprehensive de-interlace support, and DuoView for enhanced productivity and presentation capabilities. The P4M900's highly flexible architecture also allows for an external PCI Express x16 port for optional graphic card upgrades.


Enabling support for up to 1066MHz FSB Intel processor based systems including support for DDR2 memory, the VIA P4M900 features the high-bandwidth Ultra V-Link bus for a connection to VIA’s outstanding range of South Bridge solutions including the VIA VT8237A with its integrated VIA Vinyl Multichannel Audio Suite, delivering rich, High Definition audio at resolutions as high as 32-bit/192kHz, while the VIA Advanced Connectivity Suite offers a wide range of high-bandwidth connectivity options, including support for up to eight high-speed USB 2.0 ports and high-throughput 10/100 Mb/s Fast Ethernet.


The VIA VT8237A also features the VIA Vinyl Multichannel HD Audio Suite for superlative integrated and onboard eight-channel surround sound, and offers a host of high-bandwidth connectivity options, including support for the VIA Velocity Gigabit Ethernet companion chip, integrated 10/100Mbps Fast Ethernet and up to eight high-speed USB 2.0 ports.


The VIA P4M900 benefits from VIA's unique V-MAP (VIA Modular Architecture Platform) architecture that facilitates faster product development and speeds up time to market, and features the high-throughput Ultra V-Link interconnect running at speeds of up to 1GB/s between the North and South Bridge.
