GE Digital Camera Firmware Upgrade Instructions



WHAT YOU WILL NEED:
USB cable, camera, SD card and fully charged batteries.

BEFORE YOU BEGIN:
First, save/back up everything on your camera’s internal memory. You can do this by copying files to your computer, burning CDs, etc. Note: All files in camera’s internal memory and SD card will be lost if you do not save them!

You will also need to save/back up everything on your Secure Digital (SD) card. Again, you can do this by copying files to your computer, burning CDs, etc. Again, all files in camera’s internal memory and SD card will be lost if you do not save them!

Make sure your battery is fully charged. If fully charged batteries are NOT used and the upgrade is interrupted by a loss of power, your camera may be seriously damaged and require major repair.

Once you’ve backed up your files and your batteries are fully charged, you will be ready to proceed.

INSTRUCTIONS:

Plug in your USB cable to your computer. Connect the cable to the camera (with fully charged batteries). Insert your SD card into your camera and turn on your camera. After turning on your camera, your computer will automatically recognize new hardware (Windows 2000/ME/XP and Vista). You will see a “Removable Disk” window appear. If the “Removable Disk” window does not appear in your windows version, try checking for additional drives in “My Computer

Click on the appropriate firmware link above. A “File Download” window will appear. Select “Save”. Save the file to your “Removable Disk”. Once saved, disconnect camera from your computer.

Turn on your camera and press Menu then Right to enter the setup menu. Press Up until “FW Version” is highlighted, then press Right. Select “Yes” by pressing Up then press Func/OK.

After a few seconds, your camera will shut itself down. Once the camera is off, turn the camera back on. If the camera did not shut itself off, please repeat steps 1-3

Turn on the camera and press Menu, then press Right to select the setup menu. Press Down to highlight “Format Memory,” then press Right. Select “Yes” by pressing Left then Func/OK. This formats the SD card, erasing the update file you have already installed on the camera. Don’t worry, you do not need to save this file on the card, as it is already installed into the hardware of the camera.

Remove the SD card and repeat step 5 to format the internal memory. The internal memory must be formatted after a firmware upgrade to ensure correct operation!

Press Menu to exit and your upgrade is complete. Your camera is now ready for use.
